The Neoclassical palace, themed around the Greek hero Achilles, besides the great architecture and beautiful gardens, features also statues inspired by Greek mythology outdoors, as well a wide collection of memorabilia relating to Elisabeth and Kaiser Wilhelm II, its next habitant. The massive painting by Franz Matsch will surely capture your attention.
Last but not least, you surely have to visit one of Corfu’s landmarks, Monastery of Vlacherna in Kanoni. Set on an islet at the end of a narrow jetty, the chapel is dated back to 1685. You can also take a boat ride to Pontikonissi Island located close by, where another 12th – century monastery lies between pine and cypress trees. The scenery of both Vlacherena and Pontikonissi is on itself a true beauty, best admired by the hilltop of Kanoni.
